Reports from Human Rights Organizations

It is common to dismiss claims of Israeli atrocities and racism as anti-Semitic. However, the reports below have been issued by globally respected sources, some of them Israeli. Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International are the same groups we rely on to document war crimes in other parts of the world. B'tselem and Yesh Din are highly regarded human rights organizations in Israel. These reports are carefully researched and informative.

  • In 2009, a carefully documented 302-page report on the occupied Palestinian territories was commissioned by the South African government from an international group of legal scholars.  An excellent summary is available here.

  • In 2017, a 74-page report was commissioned by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA): “Israeli Practices towards the Palestinian People and the Question of Apartheid.” It can be found here

  • In 2020, a 58-page report was published by Yesh Din, an Israeli human rights organization: “The Occupation of the West Bank and the Crime of Apartheid.”

  • In January 2021, a strong indictment of the Israeli government was issued by B’Tselem, Israel’s main human rights center: “A regime of Jewish supremacy from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea: This Is Apartheid” It can be found here. Other reports by B'Tselem can be found here.

  • In April 2021, another extensively documented report was issued by Human Rights Watch: “A Threshold Crossed: Israeli Authorities and the Crimes of Apartheid and Persecution.” It can be found here.

  • In May 2021, Israel unleashed hundreds of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, killing 232 people and destroying among other things four high rise buildings in which Gazans lived and worked. Human Rights Watch issued a report suggesting that these attacks were war crimes, and showing that Israel failed to prove any of its claims that served as a pretext for these bombings.

  • In February 2022, a powerful and comprehensive report was published by Amnesty International, the global leader in human rights advocacy: “Israel’s Apartheid Against Palestinians"

  • In March 2022, the Special Rapporteur to the United Nations on the Situation of Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories submitted a thoroughly documented report which concluded that "Israel has imposed upon Palestine an apartheid reality in a post-apartheid world."

  • The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has issued a report showing Palestinian and Israeli casualties from the conflict between 2008 and 2022.
